This documentary follows the Uhuru Scholars across the country from Oakland to NYC as they presented their research exploring the continuing impact of colonization on black youths’ perceptions of beauty, school curriculum, and conditioning by the popular mass media.
This is a documentary that the scholars created in their quest to answer why so many youth in St. Paul don’t know about or feel as though they have access to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Most of the film was shot on location at HBCUs in Georgia and Alabama.
The Uhuru Youth Scholars published a book documenting the various ways they have come to see the world called Finding Our Lens. Check it out!
